Lucy Batchelor Currin

Lucy Genora Batchelor Currin, 86, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. She was born December 26, 1924, in Nash County, daughter of the late Paul and Sudie Wheeless Batchelor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elton "Bill" Currin; brothers, Victor Batchelor and Hubbard Batchelor and sister, Dorothy Bissette. Lucy graduated from Mars Hill College, attended Duke University School of Nursing and graduated from Parkview Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Guardian Care Assisted Living after a lifetime career in nursing. Left to cherish her memory are children, Robert "Bob" Elton Currin, Jr. and his wife Sally of Newport News, VA. and Edward "Ed" Paul Currin and his wife Anne of Roanoke, VA.; grandchildren, Ward Currin, Graham Currin, Trent Currin and Sara Currin; great-granddaughter, Madden Anne Currin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Englewood Methodist Church with Pastor David Benson officiating. Visitation will be 11:00- 12:30 prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private at Red Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Englewood Methodist Church Building Fund, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N.
