Lucinda Jane Pendleton Witt departed this life on January 27, 2011, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family.
Born on February 3, 1934, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of the late George Bisbee Pendleton and Ada Collins Pendleton. Lucinda moved to Lexington, K.Y. in 1955 after her marriage to Lexington native, George Witt. Lucinda was a housewife, mother and worked in the family business, Gingiss Formalwear, located in The Lansdowne Shoppes. Lucinda and George retired to Murrells Inlet, S.C. in 1978, returning to Lexington often to visit family and friends.
Lucinda was the beloved mother of George (Jody) Witt of Murrells Inlet, and Kathryn Witt Barnes and husband Marion of Rocky Mount, N. C. Other survivors are grandchildren, Collin Witt and Chandler Witt of Murrells Inlet, sisters-in-law Helen McQuinn and Joyce Witt of Lexington, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in the mausoleum on Wednesday, February 2nd at 2:00 p.m. The family will welcome friends after the service at the home of Helen McQuinn, 1600 Auburn Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Friends of Hospice of Nash General Hospital, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C., 27804.
