Lucille Holmes Winders

ROCKY MOUNT - Lucille Holmes Winders, age 94, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022. Born in Duplin County, NC on April 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Abb Holmes and Mary Owens Holmes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Winders; her daughter, Vivian Winders Turner; and her siblings, Bertha Davis, Eva Brock, Sonny Holmes, Haddie Brock, Junior Holmes, Dorothy Waters, Durwood Holmes, Lin Holmes, Edward "Baby" Holmes, and Rovy Holmes. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Jewel "Judy" Winders Batten (Gary) of Chattanooga, TN, Sue Winders Ayscue and husband, Donnie, of Rocky Mount; and Louette Boykin Riccardi and husband, Rick, of Rocky Mount; her son-in-law, Bobby Turner; her grandchildren, Gregory Batten, Michelle Robinson, Melissa Ayscue, Olivia Wilson, Cliff Ayscue, Adam Boykin, and Emily Harbaugh; her great-grandchildren, Tiffany Pollard, Aaron Robinson, Ethan Robinson, Kendall Ayscue, William McPeake-Batten, Rory Harbaugh, and Brandon Walker; her five great great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Janice Winders Brewer and husband, Chick; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Lucille's life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Doug Bowers and Pastor William Earp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
