Louis Douglas Barnes, Jr., age 59, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012. He was born in Nash County on August 22, 1952. He was the son of Louis Douglas Barnes and Kathleen Coggins Barnes. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Douglas Barnes.
Louis was a loving husband, father, and friend. He leaves behind his wife, Sheila Pitt Barnes of Rocky Mount, two daughters, Sheridan Barnes Grace and husband Liam Grace of New Orleans, LA, and Leslie Barnes Jenkins and husband Paul Jenkins of Greenville, brother Stephen Joseph Barnes and family and sister Carol Barnes Whitehurst and family. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Prior to graduating from East Carolina University, Louis served two years in the United States Army. Upon graduation from ECU, he practiced as a Certified Public Accountant with Harrison and Judge in Rocky Mount, he later served as Vice President of Finance with SECO Enterprises and then went on to become the President of Tharrington Industries. He was currently a partner with Emcap Solutions Inc. Louis was a member of the NCACPA and the AICPA. He was most happy when spending time with family and friends, shagging at the beach, woodworking, and driving his vintage corvettes.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief with the Reverend Larry Curtis officiating.
