Loretta Jean Joyner Winstead

ROCKY MOUNT - Loretta Jean Joyner Winstead, age 83, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on December 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George A. Joyner and Ila Mae Langston Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Welford "Bill" Winstead; daughter, Cathy Barnes Viverette; and grandson, Jeffrey Allen Winstead. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was a self-made business woman who was strong willed and very independent. Loretta will be missed by all who knew her. Loretta leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Gregg Winstead and her son-in-law, Dennis Ray Viverette. She is also survived grandchildren, Sarah Barnes and husband, Al, Daniel Winstead, and Christopher Clayton Barnes and wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Barnes, Melissa Winstead, Jenaya Bennette, Porter Barnes; brother, George M. Joyner and wife, Mae; sisters, Deloris Newcomb and Dorothy Joyner; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Price officiating. A Visitation with the family will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N.   3. I am so sorry. God be with you. I remember when I married her brother. I was poor didn’t have no clothes hardly and she bought me some pretty clothes. She was so nice her and her sisters. I remember her being a strong woman very out going. I use to think her and Bill were the most. May God be with each and every one of you today. Hugs

  4. Miss. Winstead will be greatly missed. I so glad I had the opportunity to know her. I have had many good times at her house. Cathy and I was friends, She was a loving person and always had a smile on her face. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. You may know me by Yvonne Brantley.   5. So sorry about your loss. I.will say that she was a sweet women and landlord. I know she will be missed dearly by all that knew her. She was a soul of forgiveness and love to everyone. Know matter what her sickness she stood strong to fight for life tp the end May God comfort you and be with you as your mom grandma friend or acquaintance is laid to rest.
