Linda Lauder Starr

August 17, 1945 ~ April 20, 2013

Linda Lauder Starr, 67, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 20, 2013. She was born in Rockingham County on August 17, 1945 and was predeceased by her parents Pauline Truslow Lauder and George Leroy Lauder of Ruffin, NC. She is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in English education and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. While she graduated with Tarheel blood, she soon found a new love for NC State athletics inspired by a "mixed" marriage to a Wolfpack graduate on July 1, 1967. Of her many passions, she enjoyed the political field and helped run the Congressional campaign and district office for Rep. David Funderburk. She found great joy in gardening and was a member of the Rocky Mount Garden Club. Her love for the Lord's creation was further evident by her delight in beautiful sunsets and bird watching, a passion shared by both her father and son. She attended Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, loved her church family and treasured opportunities to minister to anyone in need. Most importantly was her passion for Jesus Christ. Both she and her family trusted in Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." She is survived by her husband W. Douglas Starr of 45 years; son, Matthew Douglas Starr of Wilmington, NC; and daughter Rachel Truslow Starr of Raleigh, NC. She also leaves behind two sisters, Mrs. Barbara L. McMichael and her husband Jule McMichael of Reidsville, NC and JoAnne Lauder of New York, NY along with her dearest friend Mrs. Judy Roberson Dixon of Rocky Mount, NC. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Dan Crocker and his staff for their extraordinary care and commitment. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23 from 6:30-8:30pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at their home. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2:00pm at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunset Avenue Baptist Church or the Boys Girls Club of Nash/Edgecombe Counties. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com. 11. One way that God provides comfort is through his word the Bible. (Rom. 154) Why not keep a list of scriptures that are comforting to you Grieving is not an overnight process. But the Bible can provide comfort, for it assures us that in the new world that God promises to bring about. You too many find that meditating on such promises will help you to cope with the loss of your loved one. Some have been offered.comforted As we face the pain of losing someone we love. The Bible gives us comfort in our time of grief. One day the last enemy death will be brought to nothing. (1 Cor. 1526) Jesus gave his human life for us by letting his blood be shed as a sacrifice. Then He ascended to heaven & once for all time our the value of his shed blood to God. (Heb. 911,12) That laid the basis for the forgiveness of, all mankind
