SHARPSBURG - Lessie Boone "Granny" Bailey, age 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on November 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Luther T. Boone and Martha Taylor Boone and was the youngest of three siblings. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Floyd" Bailey; her sons, William "Gerald" Bailey and Samuel "Sammy" Wilfred Bailey, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Marlene Nichols Bailey; her brother, Herman Boone; and her sister, Bessie Boone Smith.
Lessie was raised during the Great Depression and developed survival skills she used for her entire lifetime. She grew up on a farm with mantra "waste not, want not" which she abided by her whole life. Lessie continued the farming lifestyle after marrying her husband and started a family with their two sons. Lessie and her husband owned and operated Bailey's Jewelry of Wilson for 36 years before retirement. She loved her Lord and Savior first and foremost. Lessie also loved her family and taking care of them. She enjoyed quilting and shopping with her sister, Bessie, taking care of the household chores, cutting grass, trimming hedges, yardwork, gardening, fishing, cooking, and baking. Lessie loved eating BBQ chicken, ice cream, chocolate milkshakes, hot dogs, short Cokes, Mountain Dews, and desserts she made. She also loved the American Flag, teddy bears, and her dog and cat pets.
Granny Bailey is survived by her daughter-in-law, Camilla Evans Bailey; her grandsons, Samuel Wilfred "Freddy" Bailey, Jr. and wife, Nikki and Michael "Bryan" Bailey and wife, Lori; and her great-grandchildren, Trey, Grace, Jackson, Evan, Luke, and Mia.

A beautiful Lady inside and out. God bless you all 🙏
Always loved that Mrs. Bailey would be out working in her yard just like my mom. Now they can work together in keeping God’s yard clean. Thoughts and Prayers during this season of loss. Brenda
We are so sorry for your loss, praying that God will give you comfort at this time. I use to watch Mrs. Bailey work in her yard and think how was she doing that, I would be in my yard working and I quit long before she did. Dawn & Phyllis
