Laverne Kay Edwards, 64, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. He was born in Nash County on July 23, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents James Augusta Edwards and Elizabeth Windborne Edwards, two brothers Carl Edwards and Keith Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 31 years Angela Edwards, 3 daughters Gusty Edwards Coats and her husband Robbie Coats of Rocky Mount, Wanda Smith Glover of Nashville, Buffi Smith Parker and her husband Floyd Parker of Nashville, NC and his son Travis Edwards and his fiance Laura Cottle of Rocky Mount, and his grandchildren, Blair and Kirby Coats, Angela Parker, Tanner Edwards and Ayden Carter. He is also survived by brother Phillip Edwards of Nashville, sister Delores Burnette of Spring Hope and a special aunt Anne Solomon.
Laverne retired after 14years of service as a Mechanical Engineer for Edgecombe Electric. He was a very innovative person and came across nothing he could not fix or improve to make more efficient. He also had several patents on different equipment in various plants.
The family will receive friends and relatives 12:30 to 2:00pm Saturday July 16th at Wheeler and Woodlief. A chapel service will follow the visitation at 2:00pm with Rev. Woody Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
