Mr. Larry Alford Hicks, age 68, Rocky Mount, NC, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Born October 24, 1942 in Nash County, NC, he was a son of the late Sam Alford and Jessie Wilson Garris Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a very simple and straightforward man. He never met a stranger. In a truly giving manner, he donated his organs, so that his death might help others. He is survived by his daughter, Gina Hicks Angel and her husband, Jason, of Rocky Mount, NC; three brothers, Burnice Garris and his wife, Lynda, of Dortches, NC, Billy Gene Hicks and his wife, Betsy, of Rocky Mount, NC, and Melvin Bess Hicks and his wife, Linda, of Rocky Mount, NC; his grandson and "the apple of his eye", Aaron Lee "Big A" Angel of Rocky Mount, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held graveside at 11:15 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The Rev. Howard Harrell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, prior to the service, at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to New Vision Family Worship Center, 4923 Oak Level Road Rocky Mount, NC 27803.   1. Gina I never meet you but Larry and I were best friends in High School. We often double dated to ball games and movies, mostly drive ins. We only saw one another at reunions or Alumini Banquets. This May we sat toghther at the Alumini dinner and did we ever have a good time talking about old times. He talked about you several times. You can be sure he thought the world of you and your son.
