ROCKY MOUNT - June Massie O'Berry-Ward, age 87, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Nash General Hospital. She was born May 21, 1925 in Richmond, VA to the late John Massie and Endra Whitaker Massie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Raymond Dennis O'Berry. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Gimbert (Barry) and Sharon Miller (Lou), all of Rocky Mount; son, Russell H. O'Berry III (Cheryl) of Youngsville; daughter-in-law, Pat O'Berry of Williamsburg, VA; brother, John Oscar "Jack" Massie (Shirley) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Karen Corley, Tammy Dunn (Kenny), Shelley King, Gary Miller (Blair), Russell Miller (Robin), Holly Carter (Chris), Amy O'Berry, Ashley O'Berry, Greg Gimbert (Laura), Joey Gimbert, Ryan O'Berry and Denny O'Berry; great-grandchildren, EJ and Michael Corley, Brigitte Weiland, Lauren and Kaitlyn Dunn, Gabe Gimbert, Ridge, Kennedy, Connelly, Kai, Halie, and Gracie Miller and Owen O'Berry. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend known and loved by many as Nanny June. A celebration of life service for June will be held 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Nashville United Methodist Church with Pastor Ralph Brown officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at 4:30pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina, 4819 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209. The family would like to thank Dr. Chamberlain, the staff at Nash General Hospital and Autumn Care for the love and care they provided June.
