Juanita Etheridge Daughtridge

Juanita Etheridge Daughtridge passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2013. Jaunita was born to Mr. Mrs. J.M. Etheridge November 13, 1919 in Whitakers, North Carolina. She received an AB degree from East Carolina Teachers College where she became president of the student body in her senior year. She continued with further studies at Appalachian College. Afterward, she taught high school English. She married John A. Daughtridge and lived in Nashville and Rocky Mount, North Carolina before moving to Orlando, Florida in 2002. Juanita was active in Lakeside Baptist Church in Rocky Mount where she was an adult ladies Sunday School teacher, member of the WMU and served as a Deacon. She traveled to many places - Europe, U.S., Canada, Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands and many cruises. Her favorite pass times at home were playing bridge and reading. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and one sister Lynda E. Rhyne of Gastonia. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law John and Katharyne Daughtridge of Windermere, Florida and two grandchildren John A.,III, his wife Mele and one great grandchild Jackson, and Katharyne C. Gabriel, her husband Matt and one great grandchild, Luke. She is also survivrd by her sisters Lena Hirsch of Savannah, Georgia and Corinne Landis of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, 27804. A graveside service will be held in Nashville North Carolina at a later date to be determined. Local arrangements are by Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
