Josephine Huckabee Fish, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, April 6, 2017 at Autumn Care in Nashville, after a long period of declining health. She attended Duke University where she met and married Harry G. Fish, Jr. in 1947. They were married for 60 years until his death in 2007. Jo was active in the Jr Guild for 15 years and was currently a sustaining member. She was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and active in her church circle for most of her adult life. Her great grandchildren are Hayes Hedgepeth of Wilmington, NC, and Hunter Manning of Tampa, FL. Her family would like to thank her caregiver and special friend, Terry Lindsey, for her unending love and concern over the past 4 years. In addition, thanks to the Autumn Care Staff and especially to Sara Whitt, Danielle Moore, Ethel Royal, Donna Farmer, and Lynn Baughman for always helping in every way to make her days more pleasant and comfortable. We are forever grateful. Also, a big hug and thank you to Toni Suiter and Isaac Smith, lifelong friends, who regularly visited with her, and made her smile. She always felt your love. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Josephine Fish. The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, even during times of sorrow. We pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one. By prayer and supplication, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 46 May you find comfort by relying on our heavenly father and learning more about the blessings of God’s kingdom. Local ministry volunteer

  2. As close neighbors of my family growing up there were tons of memories we shared in that close-knit neighborhood. Mrs. Fish was a beautiful and classy lady, and Mom to everyone in that neighborhood, and she will sorely be missed. As far as I know, that’s just about all that’s left of that great generation in our neighborhood. I’m thankful they will all be enjoying a glass of lemonade or tea with each other this Easter.

  3. To the Fish Family, Mary and I send our heartfelt condolences. God bless you guys! Steve and Mary Cederberg

  4. I just learned of Jo’s death and wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to all of you. Your parents were dear friends of my parents (and me) and we shared so many great memories and laughs – especially at our place in Maine where Jo kept us all laughing and Harry was always trying to catch that fish that didn’t exist or carve us something from the birch logs. Such special memories for special people.
