John Young Poythress

John Young Poythress, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Born in Henderson NC on June 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Forrest Young Poythress and Betty Elliot Poythress. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Poythress; and son, Robert J. Poythress. Johnny was an avid Nascar fan and also a local dirt track fan. He was also a 28 year member of Tawpaco Tribe 15 of the Improved Order of Redman. He leaves behind his son, Billy Poythress and wife Diane; daughter, Teresa Dorsey and husband Billy; daughter-in-law, Melisa Poythress; grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Stephanie, Jeremy, Billie Marie, Brooke and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Sofia. The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Friday, April 20, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. Friends may also visit the family at the home of Billy and Diane Poythress. There will be a graveside service to remember Johnny at 2:00pm Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. I am so sorry for all the family.I will remember all of the good times we all shared together over the years.There will be one more empty chair and one more we will miss at all the family get togethers.We will rember all the funny jokes he use to tell.Also his parties at his garage.It was good music,food and drinks and lots of laughter.We will miss him.

Remember that our Savor Jesus Christ & his Father Jehovah, stands beside us in our time of grief. Jesus said I am the resurrection, & the life.(John1125) Jesus also said I am the vine & my Father is the culvator.(John151) What a wonderful gift, we have been givin, to have the hope of seening our loved ones again.
