John Joseph Allsbrook

ROCKY MOUNT - John Joseph Allsbrook, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Born in Rocky Mount, NC on September 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph "Joe" Lee Allsbrook and Inez Winstead Allsbrook. He was also preceded in death by his infant brother, Bruce Lee Allsbrook. John graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High in the Class of 1966. He attended East Carolina University and Wesleyan College. John was a life-long resident of Rocky Mount and was a successful businessman. After working with his parents at the Dairy Queen in his teens and early twenties, he made his own path in business forms. He had his own company, John Allsbrook Business Forms, which he retired from in 2017. When people asked what he did for a living he always said, "I sell paper". John will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Lewis Allsbrook; his daughter, Melissa Allsbrook Koehler, of Marietta, GA and son, Joseph "Joey" Allen Allsbrook and wife, Presley Byrd Allsbrook of Thomasville, NC; his grandchildren, Austin Robert Koehler, Emily "Emmy" Caroline Koehler, Carolyn Roxanne "Roxie" Allsbrook, and Joseph Clyde Allsbrook; his brother, Jerry Lee Allsbrook and wife, Cat Rudd; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. John found great joy and love in his children and grandchildren, and they loved Poppy. They spent a great deal of time at the beach together, one of his favorite places. A Funeral Service to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to Nash UNC Health Care Hospice & Palliative Care and Dr. Donald Bales.   18. I was sorry to learn of Johnny passing. My heart goes out to Carolyn and his family. I have fond memories of Carolyn and Johnny in school. I also taught with Carolyn at Braswell Elementary School one year. The video was lovely.

  19. John was a nice person as I remember. My family moved to Jacksonville NC in 1961 so I graduated in Jacksonville NC. Reading about your family says so much about what he did through the years. Wonderful tribute! God bless you all.
