Jean Adams Thorne, 61, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1948 in Edgecombe County, daughter of the late James "Bookie" Adams and Doris Gay Adams. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy Adams.
Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in the yard, planting her flowers and watching the hummingbirds.
Those left to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 43 years, Lenno Thorne; two sons, Lenno Thorne, Jr. of Rocky Mount and Brandon Thorne of the home; daughter, Rhonda Willis of Castalia; grandsons, Justin and Stephen; two sisters, Kay Adams of Rocky Mount and Lori Adams of Tarboro; brother, James Adams of Rocky Mount; and half-sister, Helen Jordan of Rocky Mount. Jean will also be greatly missed by her beloved 3 cats and 2 dogs.
A funeral service to remember Jean will be held at 2:00p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Hinton officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8:30p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
