ROCKY MOUNT – Janice Nichols Hines, age 81, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on September 20, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Thomas Nichols and Lillie Taylor Nichols. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lonnie Frank “Bo” Hines; and her sisters, Marlene Bailey and Nancy Matney.
Janice was a longtime member of Battleboro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and listening to music. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Janice is survived by her son, Mark Hines and wife, Susan, of Rocky Mount; her daughter, Jan Hines Leonard and husband, Howard, of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Katie Leonard, Sarah Hines, Jade Ormond and husband, James, and Chris Barus and wife, Blair; her four great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Genie Jones; her niece, Tonya Abou-Dakka; and her nephew, Chris Matney.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Janice’s life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery with Pastor Kim Lail officiating. The family will be available to receive friends and relatives immediately following the graveside service.

A sweet lady who loved to read and enjoyed life. We had some fun laughs and you were such a good person to all who knew you lady.
