ROCKY MOUNT - James Ray Manning, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on September 2, 1935, he was the son of the late George De Lone Manning and Bessie Mae Williams Manning.
James retired from Fontaine Fifth Wheel after many years of dedicated service. He was a loving husband, father, papa and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Wheeler Manning; his son, Michael R. Manning and wife, Michelle; and his grandchildren, Derek Manning and fianc, Brooke, Nicholas Manning, and Natalie Manning Benjamin and husband, Jacoby.
A Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. A Funeral Service to celebrate James's life will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Ray Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
