James “Jimmy” Wesley Mitchell,

ROCKY MOUNT-James "Jimmy" Wesley Mitchell, Jr. 64 passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011. He was born in Montgomery County September 20, 1946 to the late James Wesley Mitchell, Sr. and Mary Blackley Mitchell. Jimmy served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a retired conductor for CSX Railroad with 43 years of service. He was a member of the Americian Legion Post 110. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather "Gramps" and brother. Jimmy was known as someone who never met a stranger and had a great passion for golf. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies at Birchwood Country Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Chamblee Mitchell of the home; daughter Joddy Mitchell Amerson and husband, Robbie of Nashville; sons, Johnny Wesley Mitchell and wife, Fredra of Tarboro, Jammy Christian Mitchell and wife, Heather of Rocky Mount; step children, Dennis Lee Outlaw and wife, Lisa and Christina Renee Ramback and husband Chad all of Rocky Mount; sister, Mary Ruth Mitchell Robbins of Rocky Mount; brother, Bobby Joe Mitchell and wife, Vicki of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Mitchell Hayes Amerson, Savannah Margaret Amerson, Wesley Lewis Mitchell, Austin Brooks Knight, Gage Christian Mitchell; step grandchildren, D.J. Outlaw, Shadron Carroll, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Daughtridge Mitchell and an infant son. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Buddy Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, section 51. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Nash County Relay for Life, 923 Eastern Ave., Nashville, NC 27856. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N.   2. I remember the many Sunday afternoon’s Me, Margaret and Jimmy played tennis together at Sunset Park. I also remember the long hours over at their house just hanging out. Those were the good ole days. I will miss you Jimmy.
