Irma Oakley Mooring

Irma Oakley Mooring, age 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Born in Nash County on January 09, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ennis Archebal Oakley and Zilliah “Mit” Mitoria Boone Oakley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” E. Mooring; two brothers and three sisters; and daughter-in-law, Linda Mooring. Irma dedicated her life to the care and nurturing of her family. She leaves behind her children, Irma Jean Griffin and husband Cicero of Rocky Mount, Guilford Boone Mooring of Nashville, and Mahalia Lancaster and husband Henry of Rocky Mount. She will also be remembered by ten grandchildren, Gloria Joyner (Steve), Lynn Jenkins (Bill), Cindy Cartee, Tom Griffin (Ginger), Mike Griffin, Guilford Mooring II (Susan), William Mooring (Shenan), John Mooring (Selena), Beth Hubers (Daren) and Jamie Clements (Lee); and 18 great-grandchildren, Katie Dobb (Justin), Matthew Joyner, Brooke Griffin, Jordan Cartee, Chris Cartee, Avery Taylor Mooring, Miranda Mooring, Hayden Mooring, Corinne Mooring, Grayson Mooring, Jessica Mooring, Logan Mooring, Carson Mooring, Sydney Hubers, Ben Hubers, Hannah Clements, Andrew Clements, and Meredith Clements. A service to remember Irma will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 02, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Dees and Rev. Charles Bartholomew officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Community Home Health and Brekenridge Retirement Center for the loving care and support shown to Irma during her stay.   2. Guilford, I’m so sorry to learn of your Mother’s passing on to the Lord. She was a special lady and will be known in my heart as Mrs. Calvary Baptist She’s one lady who really impressed me and guided me during my young years. I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t there in my good memories. I’m so sorry I can’t attend the funeral tomorrow. We are expecting snow tomorrow afternoon and I try to make it imperative to be home by dark, especially when I come to RockyMount. So expecting snow and being home after dark makes me make a decision to stay at home. Please forgive me. You and the family will be in my prayers. Evelynn Taylor
