Hettie Mae Batts, age 88, passed away Thursday, November 03, 2011. Born in Nash County on April 06, 1923, she was the daughter of the late James Robert Batts and Mehetibel Robbins Batts. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters.
Hettie was a sweet outgoing person who loved meeting people. She worked as a nursing assistant at Lanier Resthome in Elm City. She also worked at several restaurants. Hettie was a member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Pastor and members visiting her at Hunter Hill Resthome and she always looked forward to her birthday parties.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a sister, Frances Batts Davis and her family; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own, especially Joyce Brown, Frances Gay, and Miriam Frederick.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hunter Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their many years of devoted care to Hettie and also to the staff of nurses and doctors on the 5th floor at Nash General Hospital.
A funeral service to remember Hettie will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 05, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Greene officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Burial will be at Millbranch Cemetery.
