Henry “Judson” Rosser

ROCKY MOUNT - Henry "Judson" Rosser, 97, passed away May 2nd to be with his Lord and Savior at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount. He was the son of Rev. W.O. Rosser and Nancy Verser of Whitakers, NC, and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie Lee Roberts Rosser. He was also preceded in death by his older brothers and sisters: William Octavius Rosser, Nancy Rosser Kutulas, and Mary Elizabeth Rosser Bradley. He is survived by his son, Robert Judson Rosser and his wife, Karen of Raleigh; and grandchildren: John Madison Rosser, Carson Andrew Rosser and fiance, Hannah Walser, and Daniel Locke Rosser. Mr. Rosser adored his wife Bonnie Lee and was a devoted husband and wonderful father. He loved his family and following the ventures of his grandsons. He loved the Lord and enjoyed working in his church, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, and singing in the choir. He served as treasurer for the North Roanoke Baptist Association for many years and had a tender heart for orphaned children. Judson Rosser was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist Mate, 2nd Class, serving from 1942 to 1946, and deployed in the Pacific on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Bunker Hill. He had a strong love of country and patriotism, was an avid reader of the news of the day, and in later years served on the Nash County Republican Party Executive Committee. He worked as a tobacconist with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company, and for over twenty years as a tax auditor with the Unemployment Insurance Division of the NC Employment Security Commission. Mr. Rosser enjoyed working on his family farm in Nash and Halifax counties, riding his tractor, cutting firewood, working in the yard at home, and walking in the woods. He especially enjoyed being a fervent athletic supporter of his Wake Forest Demon Deacons. A Funeral Service to celebrate Judson's life will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.   1. So sorry for your loss. Mr. Rosser was so kind to my family. He made some wonderful times possible for my boys and I through his generosity. He will be remembered with great appreciation.

  2. Mr. Judson Rosser was a sweet kind loving man of Jesus, his family and his country. It was always with grace compassion and friendship when we were together sharing his birthday’s, CHRISTmas and Easter with the Rosser family. We will all miss his smiling face, trying to figure out what Judson was saying and when he lead all in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America.   3. What a great family. I never met Judson personally but through the lives of Bob and Karen plus Bob’s stories about his father. I know he must have been a wonder man, father and grandfather. God bless the Rosser family I know Judson will be waiting on you in heaven!
