Helen Medley Womble

Helen M. Womble December 10, 2009 Helen Medley Womble, 88 passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009. She was born August 21, 1921 in Nash County, daughter of the late Albert and Sallie Medley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Marcus E. Womble, and brother, Bruce E. Medley. Filled with a caring and giving spirit, Helen was loved by all who knew her. She was a classic "farmer's wife" who devoted her time to taking care of her family and the ones around her. She awoke at dawn, helped her husband in the fields, reared two children, cared for the sick, and managed a household filled with love and laughter. She will be truly missed. Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Sallie W. Bryant of Rocky Mount; son Marcus E. Womble Jr. of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Marcus Bryant and wife Maggie of Wake Forest, and Robert Bryant of Raleigh; four great-grandchildren, Edward Bryant and Jennifer Bryant, both of Wake Forest, and Joshua Bryant and Sarah Bryant , both of Raleigh. She is also survived by two nephews, Eddie Howell of Kingsport TN and Dennis Womble and wife Luanne of Rocky Mount; and sister-in-law, Patty Howell and husband Earl of Kingsport TN. Visitation with the family will be held 7-8:30 pm on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A graveside service to remember Helen will be at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Pineview Cemetery, Section 35. Elder D.B. Stokes will officiate the service. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for love and care given to Helen at home by Janie, Frances, Sierra, Janet, Mary, Sandra, and Malinda.
