Harriett Lamb Livesay, 89, formerly of Rocky Mount, died November 29, 2010 after several months of declining health.
She spent her early years in Statesville, NC and moved with her parents, the late Jesse and Bessie Lamb, to Rocky Mount where she finished high school and attended the Carolina School of Commerce to learn office management. She married John Henry Livesay in 1942; he died in 1980. They raised their family in Rocky Mount, after two years in Manteo where her husband served in the Coastal Air Patrol. Harriett worked outside the home as an office manager for NC Hide Fur Company and retired from Tri-Chemical Fertilizer. She moved to Cary to live with her son in 2004. She enjoyed extensive travel.
She was a longtime, faithful member of Edgemont Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in various women's groups.
She is survived by her son, John Carlton Livesay of Rocky Mount; her son, Raymond Livesay and wife Nancy of Zebulon; and her devoted cat, Rosie. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Corinne Livesay of Lake Gaston, NC and Helen Reynolds of Wilmington, NC.
A funeral service to remember Harriett will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 04, 2010 at Edgemont Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
