Gwendoline Looney Corinth

Gwendoline Looney Corinth, 97, died Wednesday, August 4. She was born February 15, 1913 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Dr. John Joseph Williams Looney and Eveline Mackreth Looney. She was an elementary school teacher in the Rocky Mount City Schools. As an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd since 1920, she had been chairman of the altar guild and a member of the vestry. She is survived by sons, Thomas C. Looney and his wife Peggy of Rocky Mount and Albert B. Corinth of Rocky Mount; daughters, Mary Corinth Williams of Chapel Hill, NC, and Gwendoline Corinth and her husband Frank Treiber of North Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Ashlin Gravely of Rocky Mount, Stuart Allen of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth McGuire of Lexington, SC, Lisa Eveline Williams-Katz of Paris, France; Benjamin and Eveline Treiber of North Augusta, SC; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Church of the Good Shepherd. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Ivy, Virginia. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tim Smith and staff of Boice-Willis Clinic and caregivers Carolyn Williams, Joyce Jones and Doretha Davis for their years of dedication and good care.
