Guilford Boone Mooring

NASHVILLE – Guilford Boone Mooring, age 83, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on June 20, 1942, he was the son of the late William Ellis Mooring and Irma Esteem Oakley Mooring. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Odell Burckhalter Mooring; and his sister, Mahalia Ann Mooring Lancaster.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Guilford was also a contractor working for NASA during the 1960’s. A devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Guilford will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Guilford is survived by his sons, Guilford B. Mooring, II and wife, Susan, of Hadley, MA, William J. Mooring and wife, Shenan, of Nashville, and John C. Mooring of Warrenton; his grandchildren, Avery Mooring, Miranda Mooring, Hayden Mooring, Corinne Mooring, Grayson Mooring, Jessica Mooring, Logan Mooring, and Carson Mooring; his great-grandchildren, Michael Falletti, Nash Mooring, and Kodi Mooring; his sister, Irma Jean Mooring Griffin; and several nephews, nieces, extended family members, and good friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Guilford’s life will be held at a later date.

  1. Guildford you will be missed, for so many reasons. Thank you for all the years of being my safety and check pilot. We saw a lot of the SE USA together. So glad you called me this past Friday pm to come pick you up Sat am for the EAA fly in breakfast and meeting.
