ROCKY MOUNT - George W. Brown, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Born in Beaufort County, NC on March 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Walter E. Brown and Alma Peterson Brown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie Harris Brown; great-granddaughter, Caroline Bonner Purdum; and his sister, Wilma Brown Parvin.
George is survived by his daughter, Deborah Brown Bonner and husband, John, of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, John H. Bonner, Jr., Beth Bonner Purdum and husband, Brent, and Kate Bonner Perry and husband, Jonathan; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and his sister, Laura Brown Pinkham.
A Family Graveside Service to celebrate George's life will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Donald Osborne officiating. The family will be available to receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the Mausoleum.
