Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. This is Uncle George cooking for a southern style pig picking at mom’s memorial service. He was always so kind and willing to help anyone who asked. He would never complain no matter how difficult or unpleasant the task. Always the quiet one, working behind the scenes. This is a great man and a great role model. His love of life was contagious, he always made you feel good about yourself and accepted you, warts and all. I will really miss you Uncle George, but heaven has gained a SUPERB soul. Much love.

  2. So sorry to hear if the passing of George. He was the person that gave Me my first job in the electrical supply business and He was more like a father figure than a boss to Me after my father passed away in 1990. They are so many great memories with Working for George there is not enough space on this page to list.

  3. George , I will always cherish our friendship and remember the good times we had together especially hunting. You will be missed but never forgotten, Good bye my friend. We enjoyed visiting you and bringing you your BBQ sandwiches because we know you enjoyed them and looked forward to it. May you rest in peace and we will always remember you. Your friends forever Paul and Rowena Dail.

  5. George was at the rest home where I work I always picked on him about loving the Tarheels we had some good times laughing and carrying on . The rest home will never be the same without him

  6. One of my favorite memories of Uncle George was the time he took me and my dad fishing at night near his beach house. I must have been about nine or ten years old. That was just about the only time in my life I have gone fishing, and it was exciting–we saw a sting ray! I had so much fun on that fishing trip. We had fish for dinner the next day, and I was so impressed that he caught, cleaned, and cooked his own fish.

  7. Uncle George has always been in my life. He has been like a grandpa for me. I remember staying with Aunt Martha Raye and Uncle George in their beach house when I was really little and my brother was just a baby. I remember so many visits over the years. I remember going on car rides with him and just talking about everyday things and feeling that he really listened to me. He was always kind and loving and made me feel special. I loved visiting him and Martha. Uncle George always accepted me and loved for who I am. He loved unconditionally, and it means a lot to me. I have always thought he was the most generous man I have ever met–a true gentleman, always thinking of others.

  8. Mr. Robbins called me his friend. He was my friend. We enjoyed many conversations about the stock market. Conversation always encouraging and he with a smile. He will truly be missed by many I’m sure. I’m at the top of the list. My prayers are with you Miss Martha. God Bless! Carole Brake Griffin

  9. Marvin, we are so sorry for your loss. May God comfort you and Annette and the rest of your brother’s family. May he give you peace.
