George Eddie Taylor

Mr. George Eddie "Pops" Taylor, age 73, of Rocky Mount, NC, went home to Heaven on Thursday, August 4, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 18, 1937 in Franklin County, NC, he was a son of the late Woodard George and Laura Massey Taylor. George was a U.S. Army Veteran and Assistant Manager for Dillon Supply, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, golf, and playing the lottery. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lois Joyner Taylor; a daughter, Kimberly Taylor Brayboy and his son-in-law, Alan, of Rocky Mount, NC; a son, Eddie Wayne Taylor and his wife, Stacey Vaeth, of Rocky Mount, NC; a sister, Peggy Taylor Everette and her husband, Will, of Spring Hope, NC; a brother, Roger Taylor and his wife, Gaile, of Rocky Mount, NC; four grandchildren, Trey Edward Taylor, Sophia Marie Taylor, Caleb Hunter Brayboy, and Gavin Scott Brayboy, all of Rocky Mount, NC; and his dog, Hannah. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Percy and Thommie Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 5, 2011 in the chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Pridgen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 5:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment at Rocky Mount Memorial Park will be private.
