ROCKY MOUNT – Gail Holder Jenkins, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Cook County, IL on January 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Galen E Holder and Euna L Holder from Chicago, IL. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William “Billy” Joseph Jenkins, Jr.
After spending her youth in Texas, she moved to Rocky Mount, NC in 1967 and spent her remaining life there. She had a long career with the Nash County School system, and Early Childhood education was her passion.
Gail loved spending time at the North Carolina beaches (especially with her beloved grandchildren), being with her friends and family, and socializing. The Englewood United Methodist church was an integral part of her life for over 50 years, including being married in the church. She loved her church community. Gail never met a stranger and was friendly with everyone. Her grandchildren loved to hear one of “Gail’s Tales” about her many adventures. During her retirement, she was spending lots of time with her friends and family. Her favorite things were going to the beach, sweet tea, perfume and spending time with family and friends.Gail is survived by her children Jennifer Jenkins Pippin (Todd) of Raleigh, NC and William Joseph Jenkins III (Regina) of Boise, ID; and her grandchildren Spencer and Chandler Pippin and Madeline Jenkins.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Gail’s life will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor Nathan Wittman officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
A Private Family Burial will take place at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
