Born in: Halifax County, NC
Resided in: Nasville, NC

NASHVILLE – Fannie Mae Neville Peace, 83, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 27, 2013. Family members who preceded her in death were her parents, Lorther and Sallie Neville; four sisters, Lucile Henry, Thelma Whitley, Betty Ruth Jones and Mattie Lee Bryant; one brother, William Edward Neville; and two infant brothers, Floyd and Nicholson. She was born April 17, 1930 in Halifax County.

She was affectionately known to many of those who loved her as “Bay”. Known for her wonderful country cooking, you could find at Bay’s kitchen table on any given day, fried cornbread, collards, turnip greens, rutabagas, apple and tater jacks and much more. She loved traveling with her husband to the mountains, where they had friends in many hoot and hollers. She loved working in her yard and could pond fish with the best of them. She was a loving person to both family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband of 50 years, Tom; step-son, Ray Peace and wife, Sherry, of Rocky Mount; grandsons, Chris Oliver of Cary and Kyle Oliver of Greenville; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; plus many nieces and nephews.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Oncology Department at Nash General Hospital for their loving care in her last days. Also, thank you to Billy and Becky Neville, Chad and Michelle Neville, Betty Parker, Bonnie Pittman and Chris and Missy Toler for their countless hours spent with Bay as she waited for her Heavenly call.

The family will receive friends and family at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday morning at Harvest Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Wood and Rev. Allan Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

  1. Tom, we are saying a prayer for you and the family. Fannie Mae was a special lady and you were blessed to share so many years together. Love and Prayer, Mancel and Frances (Tippette) Crisp

  2. As we make our journey through this life, death is our final battle. Whenever I am troubled, & lost in deep despair, I bundle all my troubles up & go to God in prayer. I tell him I am heartsick & lost & lonely, too, That my mind is deeply burdened & I dont know what to do But I know he loves me & I humbly ask if in his love hell calm my heart, for me& then I just keep quiet & think, only thoughts of peace & if I abide in stillness my restless murmurings cease. (Ps.3418) (John 316) Due to the ramson sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we know that we have the hope of seeing our loved ones once again. The Bible gives us hope, over & over again. Jesus said I am the resurrection, & the life. He that exercises faith in me, though he dies, will come to life again. (John 1125) Jesus also said I am the vine & my Father is the cultivator. (John 151) The Bibles tells us that there will be no more tears, no pain, or sickness & death will be no more. (Rev. 213,4) What a wonderful time, we can look forward to, seeing our loved ones once again
