Everette Lane House, age 81, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Born August 04, 1931 in Durham, he was the son of the late Archie Dean House and Zelma Gunter House. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Dawn House; and two brothers, Harold and James House.
Everette graduated from Durham High School and Duke University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his career in accounting, Everette worked in both the public and private sectors at S.D. Leidesdorf Company in New York and at Tarrytown Associates and Franchise Enterprises in Rocky Mount. He retired from Stone, Gassaway, House, Holland, CPA. A faithful member of Englewood United Methodist Church, he served the church in many capacities as choir member, Sunday School teacher, member of the Mens Club including service as President, and also serving as church treasurer. Everette was also a member of the Lions Club.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 61 years, Betty Gray House; daughters, Teresa House Best and husband Jeffery, and Deborah House High and husband Stephen; grandchildren, Kristen Best Minshew and husband Mark, Emily Ann Best and fiance Matthew Szymanski, Lindsay Dawn High and fiance Daniel Stanislaw, Jamison High Langley and husband Logan, and Samuel Creech High; and 3 great-grandchildren, Worth and Noah Minshew and Emma Langley.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember Everette will be held at 11:00am Thursday morning at Englewood United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Huffines officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
