Evelyn Harrell Carlisle

January 1, 1941 ~ November 30, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT - Evelyn Harrell Carlisle, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Born in Wilson County, NC on January 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William Greely Harrell and Margurette Herndon Harrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leon Carlisle. Evelyn was a proud graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School and a longtime active member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Enfield Grain and Fertilizer. Of the many hobbies Evelyn enjoyed, she was most fond of painting, knitting, playing board games and cards, and was a talented seamstress and decorator. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends and visiting the beach whenever the opportunity would arise. Blessed with an outgoing and contagious personality, coupled with her welcoming smile, Evelyn made friends everywhere she went even to the very end. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and held tight the many memories created. A beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Evelyn will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Evelyn is survived by her children, Anne Schandlbauer and husband, Nick, of Washington, DC, Jack Carlisle and husband, Luis Sardinas, of Orange, CA, and Lou Ellen Stroud and husband, Jeff, of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Alex and Ava Schandlbauer, Wesley and Nora Stroud, and Alyse and Alexander Sardinas; her brothers, Wayne Harrell and Wade Harrell and husband Bill Antczak; and nieces. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to her cousin, Sherron Deal, who was more like a sister, her life-long friend Lou Edmondson, and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Nash UNC Health Care for all the love and support they each expressed.   1. I graduated from high school with Leon. Our class gets together often for lunch. Evelyn continued to attend our luncheons when she could even after Leon passed away. She always felt like one of our classmates. She was such a sweet and friendly person. She will be missed. Praying for .her family.

  2. So sorry to see that Evelyn has passes away. Evelyn was such a bright spirit with a genuine love for her family and friends and her surroundings. Her home always reflected her excellent taste and her many talents. I so enjoyed working with her on these projects, Lou Ellen, I know you and all of your family will truly miss your Mom.
