Eva Collie Bryant

ROCKY MOUNT - Mrs. Eva Maynard Collie Bryant, 87, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Hunter Hill Nursing Center in Rocky Mount, N.C. Eva was born in Halifax County, N.C. on December 17, 1923; Eva Belle was the eldest daughter of the late Silas Tilman Maynard and Mary Belle Boysworth and the step-daughter of the late Emma Lee Rouse Maynard. She was preceded in death by her infant sister Edith Helen; her brothers, William and Frank Maynard and her sister Elizabeth Maynard Rowe Nines. She was twice widowed, by Arvin Thomas Collie and Clarence Bryant. Eva was for over thirty years, the third floor medical records secretary for Nash General Hospital; she came to regard her work as a life passion and the hospital as "her hospital" and "her responsibility" which she took very seriously. She was a long standing member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, N.C. Surviving Eva is a sister, Mrs. Florene Robertson (Dr. Leon), and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, N.C., with The Rev. Mark Pridgen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Friends of Hospice of Nash General Hospital, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C. 27804.
