Elaine Marie Spring Van Hoose

ROCKY MOUNT – Elaine Spring Van Hoose, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born in Newark, Ohio on November 7, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Herman David Spring and Darlene Marie Smith Spring. A woman of great faith, Elaine was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for many years. An active member in her church community, she was the founding President of the Columbiettes, taught Catechism in part as a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) teacher, and sang in the church choir as a mezzo-soprano. In her spare time, Elaine enjoyed baking and was a very talented seamstress, skilled in wedding dresses and gowns, costumes, and many other types of apparel. Family was especially important to her, and she cherished her children and grandchildren. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, Elaine will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Elaine is survived by her husband, Jay Van Hoose; her children, Scott Ghiloni (Jo), Eric Ghiloni (Mary), Christopher Van Hoose, Jonathan Van Hoose (Stephanie), and Stephen Van Hoose; her grandchildren, Sidney Ghiloni, Ethan Ghiloni, Lucas Ghiloni, Caroline Ghiloni, Stephen VanHoose, Jr., Eli Van Hoose, Noah Van Hoose, Judah Van Hoose, and Lola Van Hoose; her sisters, Janette Ellis (Kenneth) and Cherie Maidel (Bruce); her brothers, Larry Spring (Terry), Roger Spring (Lynda), and Mark Spring (Kimberly); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond St, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Paul Nicholas Cottrill, V.F. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
