Edward “Eddie” Alton Glasgow

March 20, 1953 ~ August 22, 2012

Edward Alton “Eddie” Glasgow, Jr., age 59, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 22, 2012. He was born in Rocky Mount on March 20, 1953, son of Christine Searcy Glasgow and the late Edward Alton Glasgow. Eddie graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School in 1972 and graduated from East Carolina University. Most recently, Eddie was the owner of Raleigh Hauling. His prior employment was a salesman with American Coating and Insulation Systems in Greensboro, NC. Eddie leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Christine Searcy Glasgow; sister, Patsy Glasgow Horton and her husband, Rick; nephew, Rick Horton all of Rocky Mount; Aunt, Peggy Searcy May and her husband, John of Apopka, FL; uncle, Robert Searcy and his wife, Edna of Raleigh, NC; several cousins; and his beloved dog, Buddy. Eddie enjoyed time spent at the outer banks with family and friends. He had a true love for boating and surf fishing. Eddie was a licensed scuba diver as well as an avid water skier. Eddie was a great communicator that never met a stranger. It has often been said, “If you didnt know Eddie when he walked in a room, you would certainly know him when you left.” Eddie has taught us the true meaning of perseverance and strength by overcoming a major stroke in January. He defied the odds and exceeded the expectations of his doctors and therapists. Eddies courage and determination was an example for all. He learned and taught lifes greatest lesson to love one another. The family would like to thank Deborah Cunningham Bryan and Steve and Carol Parker all of Raleigh for their special compassion, care and time that they spent with Eddie. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Dr. David Browder for his deep compassion and care of Eddie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eddies memory to, William M. Dunlap Center for Caring, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30pm Friday, August 24, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to remember Eddies life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Dr. Jody Wright officiating.
