Eddie Lee Whitley, age 61, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011. Born in Edgecombe County on July 20, 1950, he is the son of Eddie Whitley Jr. of Rocky Mount and the late Evelyn Louise Ezzell Whitley. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Paine; and daughter, Carla Pridgen
Lee is survived by his father, Eddie Whitley, Jr.; brother, Ronnie Whitley and wife Carol; six grandchildren, Misty Pridgen, Randi Pridgen, Andrew Pridgen, Amber Pridgen, Cody Barefoot and Dustin Barefoot; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Wednesday, October 26, 2011. A graveside service to remember Lee will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. David Whitley officiating.

Uncle Lee, I remember all the times as a child that you took me and my friends swimming and fishing. And as I grew up and had children of my own you always made them toys and played ball with them. But most of all you were always there for Grandaddy and Grany (your Daddy and Momma) and I love you more for that. You are up in heaven now with all Our Loved ones we lost before you.
