Dwight Lee Harrell

ROCKY MOUNT - Dwight Lee Harrell, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born in Edgecombe County, NC on September 17, 1966. He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Harrell. Dwight was a member of Oakview Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking outside on his grill, and loved making barbeque sauce which he would frequently share with family and friends. A "jack of all trades", Dwight always worked around construction and maintaining equipment. Whether it was plumbing, electrical, welding or fabricating, he had a natural talent when it came to working with his hands. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Dwight will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten. Dwight is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lorie Gosnell Harrell; his mama, Patricia Harrell; his sons, Justin Harrell (Allyson) and Mason Harrell (Katie); his daughter, Cheyanne Harrell; his granddaughter, Summer Harrell; his mother, Bettie Leonard; his brother, Marshall Harrell (Renee), his sisters, Shannon Bullock (Mike), Amy Leonard, Tammy Leonard and Anita Wells; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many close friends. A Funeral Service to celebrate Dwight's life will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 6:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
