Rocky Mount – Dean Alvin “Al” Larkins, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.  Born in New Hanover County, NC on September 2, 1954, he was the son of the late George Edgar Larkins and Laura Arlene Potter Larkins.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ennis G. Larkins and George Robert “Bobby” Larkins, Sr.; his sisters, Audrey Larkins McCartney and Katie Larkins McKinney; and his nephew, Mike McKinney.

A man with strong work ethics, Al retired from QVC after over 20 years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his hunting club buddies in Halifax County.  He especially loved riding motorcycles and whether it was just spending time with his motorcycle club, riding the USA Four Corners Tour, or just traveling through the mountains, Al was always up for the ride.  A devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Al will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Al is survived by his wife, Susan Hargrave Larkins; his daughters, Amanda Larkins Scarbro (Dion) and Rebecca Thomas (Michael); his 3 grandchildren; his brother, Donald “Buddy” Larkins (Carolyn); his sister, Linda Stewart (Robert); his good friend, Steve Savage; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.

A Special Gathering of Family and Friends to celebrate Al’s life will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Wilmington Funeral & Cremations, Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 South 41st Street Wilmington, NC. 28403.
