Darlene Smith Perry

Darlene Smith Perry, 54, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, February 09, 2010. She was born September 06, 1955 in Tampa FL, daughter of Luther and Rosetta Smith of Nash County. Darlene was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life in caring for her family and her close friends. She will be truly missed by all who loved her. Darlene leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 35 years, Alfred Perry; daughters, Kimberly Perry (Christopher Yurick) and Heather Perry; seven sisters, Dorothy Wingo (Frank), Deborah Sullivan (Danny), Denise Brown (Rev. Jim Brown), Diana Ward (Gary), Delilah Adkins (Sam), Dawn Jones (David), and Darolyn Peacock (Ronnie); mother-in-law, Helen B. Perry (the late Alfred Thomas Perry Jr.); and brothers-in-law, Bobby Perry (Tina), Tommy Perry, and Gene Perry (Erika). The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30pm Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to remember Darlene will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 12, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Finley Cutshaw officiating.   8. Darlene was one of the sweetest people I remember from my school years and even in years after graduation. I have not had an opportunity to see her in several years; however, I know she would have had kind words and a beautiful smile on her face, because I don’t recall ever being around her that she didn’t. I know you will all miss her greatly and am praying for peace and grace that only God can give you for the days and weeks to come.

  14. Dear Alfred, Heather, and Kim, I am so sorry to hear about Darlene. It seems like yesterday we were all at El Tapatio, playing Rook and watching karaoke! We all had so much fun together! I know she meant the world to all three of you and that you loved her so much. Everybody who knew her could easily see how tirelessly devoted she was to you. It really hurts me to know that she’s not here anymore. But, isn’t it awesome to think about her actually being in God’s presence She’ll never be alone and she’ll be in perfect peace and happiness from here to eternity!   20. I remember going to the house(parents)after church and eating lunch and playing ball and having a really good Sunday afternoon. Darlene and I worked at Nash General together also, and she was a joy to have around. She will be missed by all. God has a special lady with him tonight.My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
