Courtney Rea Ramsay

ROCKY MOUNT - Courtney Rea Ramsay, age 26, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC, as a result of complications from a sudden illness. She was the loving daughter of Tami (Hyatt) and Richard Joseph Ramsay and the adoring sister of Callie Hyatt Ramsay, all of Rocky Mount, NC. Courtney was born on November 4, 1990 in Rocky Mount. After graduating from Rocky Mount Senior High School, Courtney graduated from East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Courtney was presented at the Trian Club Debutante Ball in Sumter, SC. Courtneys vibrant personality, caring spirit, big heart and infectious smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and her sister, Courtney is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mildred Rea Ramsay, of Sumter, SC; her aunts and uncles: Page Ramsay and Steve Stroup of Charlotte, NC; Sherri Gardner and Gail and Ronnie Hyatt of Sumter, SC; her many aunts and cousins; and her loving boyfriend, Matthew Moore of Rocky Mount, NC. Courtney was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Joseph Oliver Ramsay of Sumter; her maternal grandparents, Marilyn and Clint Hyatt of Sumter; and her aunt Kim Hyatt. The family would like to thank the supportive emergency room staff at Nash General Hospital, the flight crew doctors and nurses of the Wake Med Life Flight Team and especially the loving and outstanding care she received from her Wake Med Medical Intensive Care nurses and doctors. Their care and compassion was outstanding. We would also like to thank the wonderful team at Carolina Donor Services for their assistance and coordination in the gift of life that Courtney will provide to others. A Celebration of Courtneys Life will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the Atrium of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
