Clifton "Cliff" Joseph Weeks III

Rocky Mount – Clifton “Cliff” Joseph Weeks, III, age 76, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026.  Born in Nash County, NC on February 23, 1950, he was the son of the late Clifton Joseph Weeks, Jr. and Eleanor Flye Stallings.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lee Purvis Weeks and his brother, William David Weeks.

Cliff was, first and foremost, a Christian and a man of God. His faith was the foundation of his life and the source of the love, kindness, and generosity he so freely shared with others. He had a caring heart and a genuine love for people. Cliff was a true “people person” who never met a stranger and could turn a simple conversation into a meaningful connection. He loved a good conversation, and those who knew him will remember his warmth, his humor, and the way he made people feel welcome and valued.

Cliff spent most of his career at COECO, where he was not simply a salesperson, he was a friend to his customers. He looked forward to seeing them each week, catching up with them, and building relationships that went far beyond business. His ability to connect with people and his sincere interest in their lives made him one of the best salespeople in the company’s history. For Cliff, people were never just customers; they were friends, and those friendships were among the things he treasured most.

After retiring, Cliff enjoyed many wonderful years at the coast. He and Lee continued to maintain their home in Rocky Mount while spending time at their place in Atlantic Beach. Cliff especially loved having a place where his granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Baker, could come and stay and enjoy the coast with him. Those times together created memories that he cherished deeply, and he would not have traded them for anything. A devoted and loving father, grandfather, nephew, and good friend to many, Cliff will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Family was at the center of Cliff’s heart. He is survived by his son, Jason Weeks and his wife, Christy, of Winterville, North Carolina; his beloved granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Baker Weeks, both of Winterville; and his Aunt Kay Gurganus of Rocky Mount, who was his rock and constant source of love and support following the loss of his wife nearly three years ago.

Cliff leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves behind the example of a man who loved God, loved his family, cared deeply for others, and found joy in simply being with people. His generous spirit, his easy smile, his conversations, and his genuine love for those around him will be deeply missed. Above all, those who knew Cliff can take comfort in knowing that his faith was precious to him and that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Cliff’s life will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Charles Taylor officiating.  Visitation with the family will be following the service at Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In classic Cliff style, all are welcome to dress casually and comfortably.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Cliff’s honor to Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC, or Your Choice Resource Center, 400 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Cliff lived a life rooted in faith, friendship, and family. He loved deeply, gave generously, and made an impression on countless lives. His legacy will live on in the people he loved, the friendships he made, and the many memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
