I have very fond memories of staying with Aunt Claudia and her kids when I was a young girl! I remember her making me cute little summer tops! She was a very special lady!! Sending my Love and Prayers for the family!!

Claudia Ann Whitman Cannon of Durham NC, age 94, passed away on March 12th, 2025. Claudia was born in Johnston County, NC on October 18th, 1930 the daughter of late Joe and Delcie Whitman. Claudia is preceded in death by 4 brothers, 4 sisters, son Glenn Norris, daughter Jo Sherman, and grandson Pat May.
Claudia was an avid fisherman and gardener. She especially enjoyed fishing with her brother Bill Whitman at Kure Beach where they hold several citations. Perhaps her greatest love was spending time with her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
Claudia is survived by brother Bill Whitman, daughters Pam Norris, Patsy Norris (Jimmy Duke), Polly Babb (Barry Babb), daughter-in-law Linda Norris, son-in-law Mike Sherman, great-grandson Cable May, brother-in-law Zach Byrd (Zellie), 6 grandchildren (Brian, Jennifer, Caroline, Jason, Natalie, DeeDee), 22 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, special friend Corinne Holmes, and numerous other friends.
Claudia is a member of Guess Road Baptist Church, where her service will be held on Saturday March 22nd, 2025 at 2pm, officiated by Pastor Dan Tilley. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guess Road Baptist Church at 3102 Guess Road, Durham NC 27705.
