Claude "Courtlon" Thomas

Whitakers – Claude “Courtlon” Thomas, age 63, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026.  Born in Halifax County, NC on November 14, 1962, he was the son of the late Albert Courtlon Thomas and Myrtle Ellen Wommack Thomas.

Blessed with a contagious and witty personality, Courtlon enjoyed making those around him laugh.  As an electrical technician, over the years he worked for Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant, AirBoss Rubber Solutions out of Scotland Neck, and ultimately retired from Pfizer Rocky Mount.  Known for his silent generosity, Courtlon would give the shirt off his back to help those around him.  In his spare time, he loved music, traveling, and especially spending time with his family and friends.  A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend to many, Courtlon will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Courtlon is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Whichard Thomas; his children, Joshua Courtlon Thomas (Meghan Talbott), Taylor Law (Drake), Skyler Woolard (Carrie), and Casey Wilkens; his grandchildren, Isabella Asby and Finn Wilkens; his sisters, Amy Davidson Wright (Louis Hinson) and Rhonda Thomas Hendricks (Brad); his cat, Chester; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friends.

A Celebration of Life Service to celebrate Courtlon’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Leon’s Barn, 3438 Batchelor Road, Nashville, NC 27856.  Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the service at Leon’s Barn.
