ELM CITY – Christie Lynn Hendricks, age 43, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025. She was born in Nash County, NC on December 30, 1981. Christie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, B. F. “Turk” Hendricks and Pattie S. Hendricks; her maternal grandparents, Joseph Gordon Guy and Tempie Christine Guy; and her brother-in-law, Scott A. Smith.
Christie attended OLPH School in Rocky Mount and graduated from Enfield Academy in Whitakers in June of 2000. While she had a really good time in high school she realized that more education would be needed so she attended Nash Community College and transferred to NC State and earned a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing in 2004. After graduation, Christie took a position at MBM Corp. in March of 2005. After 10 years, she went to work at Hospira in May 2015 and then Pfizer in 2022 till present. Christie loved NC State football. She loved any sports her nieces and nephew played and she had a special bond with each one of them. She was baptized and was a life time member of Battleboro United Methodist Church until recently, she attended Elm City Methodist Church and other places of worship. During her younger days, she always wanted to provide opportunities for those less fortunate and those who were in her church family. Christie was very active in whatever outreach project was born. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when the luminaries would light up the Battleboro Cemetery. Not only the beauty but the peace it brought to so many families. Christie loved serving others and did so through the Rocky Mount Junior Guild for seven years. She also became a charter member of the Elm City Optimist Club. Christie served the club as Secretary and then as President. Then she became the Zone 3 Lt. Governor of the NC East District of Optimist International in 2018-2019 optimist year. Christie brought enthusiasm and joy to every youth through the projects and events. Her zest for helping others with a smile was contagious and her sunny disposition shone throughout every room she entered. She had a zest for life like no other. Everyone wanted her to go with them wherever they went because they knew they would have a great time. Christie was the “life of every party”. She loved her job and people she came in contact with. Christie loved riding in the breeze whether on a motorcycle through the mountains, or 4 wheeling through trails or traveling with her sisters and nieces. She loved the water whether at the beach or at Lake Gaston. Photography was a second love and she captured so many memories made during her life. Shopping was her first love. Fashion, style and color brough her together with her sister and niece to be a co-owner of The Shoppe at LKG in Littleton. Christie loved spending time working at the shop whether it was helping someone find the perfect outfit or using her unlimited technology skills to get the sales, scanning, labeling, card tapping systems up and running smoothly. She took great pride and joy in seeing those things come to fruition. Christie loved music and loved to sing. Many desired her strong “alto” voice for choirs and community choruses. Gadgets could be found all around her house. She was fascinated by what they were capable of doing and did not mind showing them to you when you visited. Christie found exploring new restaurants and trying new foods exciting. She would make a point to express her opinion concerning new adventures. Most of all, Christie loved her family and especially family gatherings. Special occasions stirred her decorating creativity and she would make each one extra special by her color schemes, her charcuterie boards, finger foods and things would always be neat and in order for everyone’s enjoyment. Christie was all about making people smile and bringing happiness to every moment in this life. Christie, like all of us, had some rough times in her life but she would never show it ever. Everything was always “positive” even when things were not good. Between Amazon, gadgets, shopping and her personal Bible Study she presented to all who came in contact with her the very best attitude, laughter, and compassion that she could possibly give at any given time. Christie loved TV programs such as “The Office, “Super Store”, “Young Sheldon”, “Golden Girls”, and horror movies. She was fascinated by God’s creation and nature itself.
Christie is survived by her parents, George “Robert” Hendricks and Barbara Jean Guy Hendricks; her sisters, Cynthia “Cindy” Smith and Patricia Carmichael and husband, Todd; her nephew, Chris Smith and fiancé, Sarah; her nieces, Kaylee Smith Wagner and husband, Derek, Samantha Carmichael, and Taylor Carmichael; and her dear pet, Max.

I worked with Christie at MBM. You would often find us talking in the break room while getting coffee or a soft drink. Since Christie nor I had children of our own, we had MANY conversations about our nieces and nephews. She loved her family and was always talking about them and the Wolfpack. I know your heart is aching today and you may even be asking God “WHY” — We will never know his reason this side of Heaven, but we can trust HIM and know that HIS plan is perfect. My prayers are with you as you journey through this difficult time. Think about your sweet memories and lean on the Lord to help you. He will be with you every step of the way

I photographed Christie’s bridals and wedding and instantly fell in love with her vivacious friendly personality and her wonderful supportive, close-knit family. You are all a special group and even though I haven’t seen her in years, I feel the loss of her in this world.
Christie was a truly special person—her joyful spirit, radiant smile, and unwavering optimism touched everyone who had the privilege of working with her, even across the distance.
My thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.
With sympathy,
Dear Hendricks’ Family and Friends,
I am so sorry to learn about Christie. I used to work with Christie at MBM. The last time I saw Christie was at the luminaries in Battleboro. She recognized me and was quick to speak. I pulled over for a few minutes so we could catch up. She was always full of energy and enthusiasm with a smile on her face. May God’s peace and comfort be with you in the days to come. I know Christie met God healed and heard those sweet words we all long to hear – “Well done good and faithful servant”.
In Christ,
Angela Kilgo Moss
I didn’t know Kristi but I know how sweet and loving her parents are.
