Rocky Mount - Charlotte Ringelspaugh Batt, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Born in Piqua, OH on July 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard Ringelspaugh and Evelyn Tracy Foutz Ringelspaugh. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Madolyn S. Leggett; and brothers, John H. Ringelspaugh and Eugene C. Ringelspaugh.
Well known for her joy of meeting new people, Charlotte owned and operated Main Street News for over 30 years which was located in downtown Rocky Mount. She dedicated her life to helping those around her and would later associate herself with Amys Hallmark for another 10 years until her retirement. A woman of faith, she was a member of Englewood Presbyterian Church for many years. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved and cherished all of the great memories created with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Charlotte leaves behind to cherish her memory her five children, William E. “Billy” Batt of Rocky Mount, Christopher “Chris” E. Batt and his wife, Connie, of Melburn, FL, Linda Suzanne “Sue” Batt of Nashville, Cheryle B. “Cherie” Smith and her husband, Dean, of Rocky Mount, and Mary B. Grossfuss and her husband, Keith, of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Adriann and Ashley Gray, Blair Ellis, Sean and Blake Smith, and Ryan Grossfuss; and one great-granddaughter, Kaelyn Grossfuss; and a brother, Keith A. Ringelspaugh of St. Petersburg, FL.
A Celebration of Charlottes Life will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home Cremation Services with Rev. Swane Holloman of Taylors Chapel Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 5:30 PM.
