Enfield - Charlie T. Hunt, a native of Enfield, NC, died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at home where he lived with his younger daughter. He was born in Halifax County on May 9, 1921 to Liller and George Hunt. He was a brother to three sisters and four brothers. Charlie was a hardworking man who enjoyed life. Charlie worked for the Town of Enfield and retired in 1982. He was a generous man who loved his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed fishing and was an evangelist. He helped build Enfield Church of God where he was a member until he died. Charlie was a veteran of World War II where he obtained many medals including a purple heart. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife Hilda Pope of Scotland Neck; a brother James Hunt of Gaston; two children Shirley Cutchins of Franklin, VA and Felica Robach of Rocky Mount; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 pm on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to any home health and hospice organization.
