Charles Jackson Gilley, age 81, passed away peacefully Friday, August 30, 2013. Born in Catawba County on February 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph Hudson Gilley and Era Hendricks Gilley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hudson Gilley Jr.

An entrepreneur at heart, Charles started his own company in the manufactured home industry and later found his new passion in residential construction and development where he remained until his retirement.
Charles was a devoted member of Englewood Baptist Church for over 40 years. He loved his church and church family. A true man of God, Charles nurtured his sons by living out his faith and making the sacrifices necessary to see their goals achieved. As an outdoorsman, he loved spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, the mountains and especially Portsmouth Island.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Carpenter Gilley; sons, Charles J. "Chuck" Gilley Jr. and wife Jennifer of Wilmington and Stephen M. Gilley and wife Gina of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Caroline, Sarah, Noah, and Skylar; and his devoted canine companion, "Lilly".

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Love was the reason for the ransom sacrifice, showing the great love that Jehovah & Jesus had for all of mankind. (John 316) What a wonderful gift we have been giving, to have the hope of seeing our loved ones once again. Death is the age-old enemy, we all meet as our journey end. It is never pleasant, when we loss someone we love. The pain at times, is so heart breaking, that our tears, keep on flowing. (Ps. 3418) Even the perfect man, JESUS CHRIST, Gave way to tears. So greatly grieved was he over the death of his friend, Lazarous. (John 1135) Without fear the way ahead
My sincere condolence to the family for your loss! Though the grief and sorrow is present, comfort is present as well, through God’s Word the bible. Jehovah God(Ps 8318) promises that one day death will be swallowed up forever, (Isa. 258)! Yes the last enemy death will be brought to nothing, (1 Cor.1526)! How wonderful it would be to know that no one is dying! Many wonder what hope is there for our dead loved ones How wonderful it would be to see Charles again! By Jehovah sending Jesus Christ to the earth to die for us, and then resurrecting him, this has opened up the way for a resurrection for our dead loved ones,(John 528, 29)! May your family be comforted and have peace! Please feel free to email me, if you have any questions[emailprotected]
