Oh how I remember hours and hours of fun with Charlene. Together we traveled to Colorado Springs in 1959 to represent New Hampshire at the Girl Scout Round-Up! In 2004 I returned to Colorado Springs to attend the Air Force Academy graduation and found the exact spot where we shared such beauty! Charlene was in my thoughts at the moment, I carried our memories to the top of Pike’s Peak, said a prayer of thanksgiving , which I offer again today for friendship, love and beauty. How ironic that we both entered nursing and ended up in the South. I now have a home in Camden, SC where I enjoy retirement with the Labrador Retrievers I love and train. God Bless you Charlene . I extend sympathy to the family . Many will miss her generous love, joyful ways and kind heart. Mary-Jo Mansfield
Charlene was a dear friend of mine at the Albemarle. Both of my parents were there and my father moved into her room in Skilled Nursing when Charlene got an apartment in Independent Living. It was just two short years but we could call or visit with long periods of not talking then it would be just like yesterday. She had a good connection with people. We had lunch together several times after my Dad died. Mother and I enjoyed visiting her on 3rd. floor. What a warm and interesting friend. We shared our books and it makes me sad that I could not visit very much after my Mother came to live with me. My sincere sympathy to her family, especially Lin and Peter in Rocky Mount. You were the world to her. Love, Connie Hull 1509 Colony Drive. Tarboro, NC 27886 [emailprotected]

Dear Linda & Pete, I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Charlene. I remember her fondly from our Girl Scout days. She was a great role model and an accomplished mentor to many of us. My thought and prayers are with you and your family. Fondly, Roberta Maxfield
