NASHVILLE - Carmen Louise Earley Boulden , 74, went to be with our Lord and Savior May 31, 2010. She was born January 21, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was born to the late Robert and Katherine Earley. She served honorably and faithfully as a military wife beside her husband for 21 years as he served in the US Air Force. She is preceded in death by her precious husband of 48 years, Alvis J. Boulden. Both were residents of Nash County since his retirement from the military.
Carmen raised 3 children while her husband served in the military. She and her husband would frequently sponsor new airmen arriving at the bases where they were stationed. Upon retiring from the military she and her husband returned to Nash County where she began her working career with Davenport and Fisher Law firm followed by Masonite Corporation of Spring Hope. She retired from Masonite Corporation and pursued a later career at MBM Corporation of Rocky Mount. Through the years of raising her children she was a Boy Scout leader and encouragement to her children for their education. She was a member of Corinth Baptist church and loved her church family. She especially enjoyed gospel music. Carmen never met a person she didn't consider to be a friend. She always saw the best in every person that she met. She was an avid pet lover and took delight in her dogs, especially a little black poodle named Katie. Carmen took special joy in raising her granddaughters Nicole and Sarah while her son James was a truck driver. Sarah continued to live with Carmen at the time of her death. Both girls were daughters to her.
Carmen was a loving mother and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by 3 children. Katherine Wilson and husband Gilliam of Nashville. She has 2 sons, James Alvis Boulden and his wife Kelly of Rocky Mount and Gary Boulden of the home. She is survived by 5 granddaughters, Melissa Wilson Allen of Nashville and great grand children Slade and Macy. Megan Wilson Cole and her husband Daniel of Rocky Mount, Nicole Boulden of Greenville, Sarah Boulden of the home and Mary Boulden of Rocky Mount. She is survived by one grandson John Alvis Boulden of Rocky Mount.
Carmen is survived by one brother Robert James Earley Jr. and wife Mary of Simi Valley California. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Carmen's life will be held at 2:00p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Coggins officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, 2883 North NC 58 Highway, Nashville NC 27856.
