Ms. Carlette King Lewis, age 40, of Rocky Mount, NC, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Nash General Hospital.
Born April 21, 1970 in Clinton, NC, she was the daughter of Carl Emerson "C. E." and Paulette Robinson King of Clinton, NC.
Carlette was a 1988 graduate of Clinton High School, a 1992 graduate of Campbell University, and worked as a Revenue Officer for the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
She loved all outdoor activities, especially hiking the Appalachian Trail, kayaking, photography, and sharing these experiences with her daughter.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Kaitlyn Grace Lewis of the home; Kaitlyn's father, Kevin N. Lewis of Rocky Mount, NC; her brother, Michael Evan King and his wife, Jennifer, of Faison, NC; her niece, Zaylea King of Faison, NC; her nephew, Brody King of Faison, NC; and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Entombment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Harrison Family YMCA, 1000 Independence Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

So many stories I could tell. We have cried together, laughed together, grown apart and come back together. I can barely type this through the tears. To know Carlette is to love her. Such a beautiful person inside and out. With her being just up the street,I took it for granted that she would always be there. How I wish I wish I could see her now. I will miss the good times and miss the sharing of our personal lives. My prayers go out for her KK, her family and all of her friends who loved her as much as I did. She was one of the best friends I have ever had, always willing to go the extra mile. She was actually more like family. I will miss her smile, her southern accent, and her witty personality, but most of all I will miss the way she was always there for me.

When I think of Carlette it will be with a smile on my face.
Carlette and I grew up together as wee little girls at church; then Mrs. Betty Taylor took us to our first Concert when we were 13 or 14…Prince’s Purple Rain !!! Yes it was awesome!!! We graduated together from CHS in 88, and the things about Carlette that I will always remember is that she was the most honest person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and oh, was she ever so hilarious!!! Love you and will miss you…God has another angel in heaven.

Carlette was a dear friend & I will cherish our memories at Clinton High School whether going to class or skipping school with her on a couple of occasions. You may be gone but you will never be forgotton. I am so glad facebook reconnected us this past year… I miss talking to you on a daily basis……. I will miss you but I will see you again… I can’t wait to hang out of the T-tops with you & Billie Jo just like we did back in the day… UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN MY FRIENDS, UNTILE WE MEET AGAIN.
Carlette was a joy and a crazy girl to work with at Hertford Co. DSS. She will be missed to a lot of people and in a lot of ways. I will always cherish her memory.
